Snippet: Find and organize pickup sports and other recreational activities from your iPhone. With NextGame you can create pickup games, invite your friends, or join other peoples public games.

NextGame is a social app that allows users to post and find pickup games in their area. Search for a park or recreation center near you and see what pickup games they have to offer or add a new game location of your own and add a pickup game to it. View search results in either a list or a map display. NextGame supports a vast array of sport types.

I developed the iOS application for NextGame. I also implemented the handling of push notifications within the API, but the majority of credit for the API goes to Neil Goodman. The functionality of NextGame extends far beyond pickup games. Some of the other features bundled in the app include:

• Friendship system, allowing users to request and accept or decline friendships
• Group system, allowing users to create or join groups. Groups can be used to send invitations and messages
• Messaging system allowing users to send messages to their friends and view their inbox and outbox
• Trophy & deal system for rewarding active users with deals from local retail store.
• Deal system for adding retailers and deals and extending offers to certain users
• Event system for notifying users of NextGame-related events in their local vicinity.
• Check-in system allowing users to check-in to locations and games
• News system, allowing NextGame to notify users of any news related to their service
• Push notifications for messages, friend requests/approvals, check-ins, events, and news
• Facebook/Twitter integration with the option to auto-post various actions to your social accounts
